Peace T-Shirt Design Competition Winners  

The public is invited to attend an awards presentation and reception at The Peace Center on Sunday May 16^th at 1 p.m.   

First Prize Winner:

Title: Peace Doves

Occupation: Animal Rescue Officer, Berwyn Police Department

"I believe that art in its various forms is the only efficient  way to convey emotions. Art that depicts peace, thus, can create an environment of peace more so than any other social medium."

Second Prize Winner:

Title: I Am Peace

Submitted by: Christine Milostan, Glendale Heights, IL
Occupation: Author, Artist, Educator, Creativity Consultant

I have done peace collages with an inner city High School where gang violence is an everyday occurrence Students and faculty sat during lunch periods, exchanged ideas and created their own expression of peace.

On a personal level, when I create art, even just to dabble in color for just a few minutes a day, I can "flow" through the day more calmly and peacefully. As philosopher Ernest Holmes said, “There can be no peace until we know that the Spirit is the only cause, medium and effect in our lives."
