Healing
Our Broken Connection with the
Earth
Thursday,
August 12, 7-9 p.m.
From the earliest mythologies, it's
clear we all start as a little bit of dirt. But these
stories aren't just entertaining. They also carry a
profound message: each of us is born with a deep and
abiding connection to the earth, one that many of us have
lost touch with. And clearly, that connection is broken.
The challenges facing each of us at this moment are
these: what will it take to wake us up, to see what we
are losing? Once awake, how can we understand how the
vital components of life on earth—our soil, seed, food,
air and water—are being destroyed? Finally—and
critically--what can each of us as awakened beings do to
help heal our earth and save our species—and all the
others being lost in unprecedented
numbers?
Author
Ellen Gunter (and co-author Ted Carter) spent more than two
years interviewing organic and biodynamic farmers,
environmentalists, filmmakers, authors, farming advocates,
teachers, and spiritual leaders to find the answers to those
questions. Using historical narratives, dozens of simple and
profound practices and examples of people whose adventures in
earth stewardship are showing us the way to our own roles in
the world's environmental crises, REUNION: HOW WE HEAL OUR
CONNECTION TO THE EARTH is a vital and important venture into
an earth-saving venture. Because once we rediscover and repair
that connection to our planet, we open ourselves up to
solutions we had never considered before.

REUNION is
about our relationship to the earth at its most critical
environmental juncture. It takes us on an adventure into seeing
differently, showing us how to awaken ourselves to the many
environmental challenges we live with, and how, by reconnecting
to the earth, each of us can begin the work of healing our
planet and our shattered, hungry hearts.
